The spectacular moonlight, the nighttime, the weather—especially snow and ice—and, of course, the water all figure into Beverly Gimlin’s new paintings. Most are done from memory and are expressionist reactions to the elements of nature. “Since light has always been important in my work, I became intrigued with the light of the moon and how it can cast either intense light or muted light into the nighttime landscape,” she says. “I used the snow and ice pieces to investigate a cooler palette of colors.”

This is Beverly’s fourth show at Gallery Fraga and we are very pleased to welcome her back! Beverly Gimlin earned her MFA at the California College of Arts, and has exhibited her work in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and London. Her work is included in the corporate collections of Union Carbide, Kaiser Permanente, and Sybex, Inc.
