Josie, who is from Ballindoon in County Sligo in northwest Ireland, counts Morris Graves, Georgia O’Keefe, Sean Mcsweeney, and Alfredo Arreguin among his influences. His paintings depicting Ireland and the Pacific Northwest are full-scale dramas for all their 11" x 15" size. His chosen medium of gouache features intensities of color that can be blended to achieve watercolor effects at one end of the spectrum, impasto at the other. This show is a true collaboration of painter and poet: Josie and Tess are both involved in the creation of each piece.

Northwest poet Tess Gallagher has written poems inspired by some of Josie's paintings. You can see them here. We are offering these very limited pieces together, painting and poem, as they were intended.

You can view more of Josie's work here.

If you're interested in purchasing any of these pieces, please contact us. We can ship artwork anywhere in the world.
